Advance M80 "HQI" ballast

Advance M80 "HQI" ballast

Click to view full size image

Heres a label pic of the now discontinued Advance M80 ballast, not to be confused with a standard 250w PSMH (M138). If anybody knows why these were made for such a short period and then discontinued comment below. We all know HQI is a trademark of Osram's MH lamp line, so why was Advance (philips) treating HQI like its some totally different metal halide format like HMI?

This isn't my pic, just pulled from google. I did have one of these awhile back, and it ran at 330w, with 308w at the lampholder. So it isn't truely a "250w" ballast.

HMI is Osram line of highly loaded short-arc MH lamps for stage and studio lighting. HQI is Osram general purpose QMH lamps. The "HQI" M80 ballast is useless, as most Osram quartz MH lamps and all compact double ended MH lamps, designed for HPS choke, so for the 250W HQI lamp, the closest that available is the S50 HPS ballast.
Lamps that can operate correctly with M80, is Philips HPI-T 250W, as it can operate on both MV and HPS chokes, but I'm heard that it chemistry isn't compatible with CWA gear.

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I lives in Israel, which is a 230-240V, 50hz country.

Dor, I wonder if M80 ballasts like these would be compatible with European 250w HPS lamps?

Say NO to ballast and bulb bans. MV, MH, HPS, and SOX forever!!!! Magnetic preheat fluorescent forever!!!!!

Desire to collect various light bulbs (especially HID), ballasts, and fixtures from around the world.
