Sylvania 80W MBF/U (HSL-BW)

Sylvania 80W MBF/U (HSL-BW)

80W MBF/U (HSL-BW) lamp from Sylvania in Belgium, nice to see some not made in [censored] China for a change :-) Also unusual these days to come across the 3-pin BC (B22d-3) cap.
I assume the '43' on the neck is a date code, as there doesn't appear to be one on the main etch. Can anyone assist with this..? It looks new, but that doesn't mean anything, it could have been sitting on a wholesaler's shelf for years..!

Although Ria took the picture, this lamp is one of two that I bought to add to what is now, OUR collection, may they be the first of many.

LED lighting has its place in the home or other indoor uses, but outdoors in street lights is in my opinion not one of them.

Let's hope so

I don't disapprove of LED's for domestic and other indoor use, I just don't like them for street lighting.

You're only saying that so that I spend the money...

Type of base practically unknown in Brazil. In MV models with 80 to 125w are usually E27

The B22d-3 base was used a lot in the UK from probably the 1940's onwards, primarily to deter people from putting them into ordinary incandescent lamp sockets, I believe. They never gained much acceptance elsewhere, where E26/27 was far more common. Even today, you can get lamps with either type of cap. Personally, I prefer these ones.

It is easier to find base g12, e27 and e40 in public fixtures, or E14 and e27 in home lighting. This really only exists in Germany and the UK
