Picked this one up at Fred Meyer for a particular pendant light I also found there, which will be replacing a rather redneck clip light minus clamp which is currently my kitchen table pendant light back home. However, when I tried it, I was disappointed to find it had a rather noticeable 60Hz flicker. Sure, magnetic ballasted fluorescent lighting has that too, but being this would be in an exposed-bulb fixture for task lighting I think I will find something else to use instead.

However, I probably won't return it, as it is a neat engineering sample of the progress of lighting nevertheless in my opinion. At only 5 watts, it might get used as a night light instead somewhere.

It does seem to be made of actual glass.

Amusingly, the package refers to it as 'soft white' even though it is clear. Oh, the joys of using color temperatures to classify a light source.
