Not bad at all... now all it needs is a high-bay style refractor lol

I also added a bypass wire to the lamp side of the live connection which can just be connected to the loop terminal of the fixture to short the ballast and allow me to run standard lamps with a higher power draw than 800mA

Forgot to mention I also shortened the tether since it poked down a tad too far for my liking... looks pretty decent with the HQL 80w in it!

What if I told you you could save 100% of your street lighting budget? Don't believe me? Buy an LED street light and run it for a week. the results will leave you in awe. (Aaaaaaand maybe wondering why you swapped that 70w SON)

I don't disapprove of LED's for domestic and other indoor use, I just don't like them for street lighting.

Where's the ballast?

in the ceiling it's directly above the fixture, wired in with standard .75mm solid core hookup wire. I'm using a Tridonic OMB80 low loss mercury ballast... and since we have a bunch of switchmode stuff screwing with the power factor in the house it doesn't have nor strictly need a PFC cap on it which significantly simplifies the layout.
