Semi-cutoff cobra?

Semi-cutoff cobra?

Click to view full size image

These cobras on short arms are on a street leading to the highway. There are also some on the highway on longer arms.

But these are interesting because they aren't dropped lens or flat lens, but have a short drop on the lens, and I haven't seen these anywhere else here.

Also these were put in in 2012, as they were adding lighting at busier intersections to the highway that didn't have streetlights.

Sag lens lights are pretty rare for whatever reason. I personally never cared for them. They look like full cutoff lights with flat lenses that melted and drooped lol.

FYI "semi-cutoff" is drop lens. flat lens is full cutoff (FCO) and this above is "cutoff".

To resist is to piss in the wind, anyone who does will end up smelling.

They look weird to me and the only places I've seen them are along this part of the highway, between my town and the next one south of me. To me the side view reminds me of a cat with its tongue barely sticking out.

I've seen a lot of GE M400A and Cooper OVY with sag lens.

I"m don't speak english well, and rely on online translating to write in this site.
Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.

I only working with the European date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

I hope that LED won't replace all forms of other light

I've seen many AEL 125, and Cooper OVX lights with the sag lens.

Old lighting is, and will always be, the best lighting.

These were standard practice in on Minnesota state highways before the LED conversion. Every year or so some legislator would introduce a bill mandating that Mn/DOT use cutoff lighting, so Mn/DOT started using these in an attempt to compromise.

If it was a large installation of them it's a possibility but unless they were purchases in obnoxious quantities I'm unsure if they'd do that.

These sag-lens lights were everywhere on the freeways in MN before the LED changeouts. There are still a few left over at intersections but that's it. There are plenty left in WI though.

@ Wattmaster: Not as far as I can tell. The OVG and OVY were introduced in the 90s as sag lens fixtures.

Haven't seen a streetlight with a lens like that before.
I kinda like it, just because its different.

Colored Fluorescent's such as F40T12 Red or  Green or Blue are awesome...
