Very Rare Now Gone Georgia Power-Owned Substation Mercury Vapor Post Top Luminare

Click to view full size image

There were 4 of these possibly GE 60s or 70s post top beautiful green glow mercury vapor security lights in a power substation here in East Marietta, GA now recently replaced with ugly LED post-top replacements. These bulbs were so old they never put out any light but they were beautiful none the less. I can't think of another Georgia Power owned Mercury Vapor fixture set other than these that are still in operation.

Cheers, GeorgiaLights

I bet that the former light fixtures may have been burning for more than 40 years with the original bulb in it I'll try to look at the Historical Aerial web site to determined when it was erected.

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.

Upon checking on from Historic Aerials web site, I found that the substation was built in between 1972 and 1978

Pretty, please no more Chinese failure.

Great job on the research...probably are the original bulbs or last changed decades ago
