I like these bulbs. Simply because they're interesting! The 100W ones are the best I think, as sometimes the 60W ones don't give as good an effect, even though they still look nice. I'd say this is coloured glass and not lacquered; I usually look at the base of the lamp to see if it has any colouring on the edge of it and if it doesn't it's probably coloured glass, unless of course there is a clear band at the bottom.

You can sometimes tell if it's true coloured glass, as it tends to weigh more. Certainly the ruby red lamps I have are very heavy.
