Little Glare Light Setup

Little Glare Light Setup

Click to view full size image

Got another Lithonia Shoplight and placed it behind our TV. This is on a IKEA shelf and the shoplight seems to lean perfectly on its side.
There is a little portion on each side of the lamps but not enough to get worried about, you can even see the light of the power strip that I nailed onto the shelf so I can turn it on easily.
The shoplight cord is the far right one

Is the ballast rated for F40T12 lamps?

While the ballast isn't electronic it is a T12 ballast, so I would figure it would be less harmful to the lamps than a F32 ballast.
It had a F32 ballast but I switched it out.

So what type of magnetic ballast is in use here? If it's anything like that Benchlite ballast you took a pic of a while back,
it's more than likely not going to be the best as far as performance and reliability is concerned.

No magnetic, T12 Electronic. The ballast hasn't ruined the lamp in anyway for now, I'll just wait about a month or so to see if there is any end blackening.

I tried this with an F15T8 at one point in time behind a smaller flat screen.

I don't get this. Weird place to put a shop light. But it does light the wall a bit.

I like LED, but in household use, NOT commercial use.

I like HID lamps, especially the High Pressure Sodium lights, they have a orange color, which is actually my favorite color! Smiley  High Pressure Sodium High Pressure Sodium High Pressure Sodium

No the part where you said the ballast is not electronic

I meant to type "magnetic", must have never saw the mistake until now.

The comment you're referring to was supposed to say:
While the ballast isn't magnetic it is a T12 ballast, so I would figure it would be less harmful to the lamps than a F32 ballast.
It had a F32 ballast but I switched it out.

@lightinglover8902, I personally understand what F96T12 DD VHO is doing. Back lighting behind the TV... I've seen people do
this many times, although their choice of back lighting was LED, unfortunately.
@F96T12 DD VHO, ok so the ballast in use here is electronic, not magnetic. But that doesn't mean it'll be less harmful or harsh
on the bulbs. It depends on the ballast OCV, and also the quality of the ballast over all. If it's a cheesy electronic ballast,
don't expect reliable performance.

Lets just say this electronic ballast is heavier than many electronic ballasts, hopefully meaning there is quality stuff in there.

I have a fluorescent light that lights the wall up in my room, and it reflects the wall (if the wall color is white) pretty good.

I like LED, but in household use, NOT commercial use.

@lightinglover8902, I've always been a fan of fluorescent lighting reflecting off of white paint off of a wall, or ceiling.
Especially halophosphate Cool White lamps. Fixtures that enable the fluorescent tube to reflect off of the wall or ceiling: typically my favorite kind of fluorescent fixtures.
@F96T12 DD VHO, you should take a picture of that electronic ballast. Who knows... maybe
you actually have a reliable ballast/old school gem.
