This resembles a valve or tube but is open to air a plastic cover would fit over the tube. Standard valve base pins used are 2 3 5 8 there is a contact between 2 3 and 5 8 Any info please.

It would have been gas analyser using heated cathode to measure the current flow between cathode and anode
