Here's an oldie with cloth wires and using green instead of blue, as I've seen with other old RS ballast brands.

Interesting that this lists 30w along with 40w, something of a rarity with these really old full power ballasts.

A 40w lamp runs at 435ma while a 30w (T12) runs at 460ma.

Yep I believe August 1958 is the correct date. Nice ballast! Interesting to see green used. My guess it is quickly changed due to green being the color for equipment grounding?

Possibly. I've seen other ballasts like Advance use green as well for the really old RS ones.
