Old lantern at Carrog station

Old lantern at Carrog station

Click to view full size image

A true classic located on the platform of Carrog station which is a part of Llangollen railway. Though the lamp looks like a clear 80W MB/U with a 3-pin BC cap, actually this is an unusual MH lamp with a BC cap.

We saw another similar lamp there, on the corner of the signal box. I do hope they have plenty of replacement lamps

It'll be all right in the end, and if it isn't all right, it isn't the end Smiley

There are many but the other were converted to MH. I didn't check every lantern but it seems that they dediced to preserve at least two (this one above and the one on the corner) in more classic state.

I was searching for some videos on YT that presented those lanterns in action and some contradictions appeared. I found two videos made before 2019 (the year this photo was taken) and in them the lantern above emits a warm white light very much unlike what should be expected of an uncoated MV. It is visible in this video (made in 2017) from 18:17 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orBqTiYOmGs and in this video (made in 2018) from 6:19 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o3szF0t1Gs
I can think of 2 solutions, either this lamp that truly looks like MB/U was installed recently because someone decided to change modern MH to something more era appropriate or this isn't a MB/U lamp but a BC cap MH retrofit.
What are the opinions about this situation?
Personally I think that with the second option there is a problem that I didn't heard before about the existence of BC cap MH retrofits but I do not exclude the possibility that I may be missing some knowledge about the existence of such lamps.

I've managed to find after a long search a straight shot of a working Carrog lantern, the emitted light is definitely warm white:

Here is a photo of a turned off lantern but the outline of the bulb can be nicely seen:

Thoughts?
