When I saw these I immediately send a request email to the retailer, I WANT ONE ! ! ! ! ! Where else can you find power twisted tubes in 2020???? Tho, tbh they are not 'power twist' they are twisted to give out more IR and UV rays for better tanning effect, but nevertheless, I want one. Seems like they have them in stock in my area.

Hi. Yes, I have some info on these lamps. The Latvian company that sells these does not have their own website, and is only accessible trough the online advertisement retailer and facebook. In this case its Lithuania's most biggest online advert site called 'skelbimai.lt' but the company does sell tubes online, you just have to get in touch with them wia/ facebook. I did just that, and it turns out that they do have an excessive amount of these tubes, because apparently ,they custom order these batch at a time from China and they sell them along with whole tanning bed, basically, they are a company that specializes in tanning stuff, bed, lamps, etc. Their facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/sunconcept.lv/ get in touch with them, maybe they'll ship to US or wherever you live if you live in EU then the postage would be cheap and faster

New lighting technologies is a pity fest everywhere you look. From LEDs that last only for two months, to a never-ending global starvation of t8 fluorescent tubes.

These are made by Lighttech in Hungary, who acquired the old DuroTest Power-Twist equipment a long time ago. They only produce special lamps though, like these suntanning tubes. For the first time I saw these a few weeks ago in work, someone had sent in a batch of them for checking the chemical purity of the gas filling. Which means they unfortunately all have a small hole punched in the side now. The depth of the grooves seems to be much shallower than the original old Duro-Test tubes.

Wow! James! You never seize to amaze us with the information you give! I always get excited when i get a comment from you i always thought that durotest was based in usa, but on my box of durotest tubes it says they were made in japan so i am totally lost, cause on the tubes in the case states that they were made in usa... Really interesting that they procured the old equipment, i would love to see how the screw groove is produced..

DuroTest invented the Power-Twist tubes and produced them until 2000 at its North Bergen plant in New Jersey, USA. A few years later the company was bankrupted, but its Mexican division Duro-Mex and the Japanese division Marutoki survived. It seems the Power-Twist production was resurrected after a few years by one or other of those subsidiaries. Quite how it ended up in Hungary I am not sure. Perhaps the overseas Duro-Test factories eventually also closed and LT was able to acquire the equipment. They have been made as a niche product for Suntanning lamps for quite a long time now, but recently seem to be becoming rather more popular. I think they are mainly produced for American Leisure. Some even have multi-colour phosphor bands, see for instance https://bananabeachdirect.co.uk/product-category/tanning-lamps/american-leisure/

It's a shame that Lighttech don't make this type of twister fluorescent tube in the standard range of colours alongside the tanning tubes.

I'm always interested in exchanging lamps - message me to see what we can do! Smiley
