You're lucky you ever had them, we didn't here. Only place to get discharge lighting before eBay and the like was electrical wholesalers, and some of those could be arsey about selling to the public

I've never actually seen HID fixtures at a Canadian WalMart. Home Depot, Lowe's, Rona, and Canadian Tire sells them though although their HID offerings have been getting slimmer and slimmer each year.

Last time I was at Walmart, a few months ago, the Brinks MH yardblaster was on clearance for $39. I haven't been since then. I don't even see any replacement HID lamps or photocell in this picture!

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Yeah it sucks. I miss when Walmart used to sell Cooper Lighting “Regent” mercury vapor wall blasters. They also sold the replacement “Regent” branded 175 watt mercury lamps and photocontrols. I rode my bike to the Walmart by our house and purchased the fixtures a few times and would hold the box while I pedalled back home. Cheap too. $19.97 for the complete fixture.

I've never understood why discharge lighting was never sold retail here. I get really jealous when you lot tell me about all these places you can (or at least could) get stuff

Typical UK, “for PROFESSIONAL use only” mentality!, we have a car shampoo at work called TXR, it brings the dirtiest car up to a showroom finish, but the consumer CAN’T buy it, (for professional use only), UK consumers/commoners/joe publics have to make do with the watered down, (domestic), alternative!
Heaven forbid they were ever going to let us play with discharge lighting!!!!

Current: UK 230V, 50Hz
Power provider: e.on energy
Street lighting in our town: Philips UniStreet LED

Yeah it's kinda strange that they're so restrictive with selling HID equipment there. Over here even for the more strange HID stuff, I had problem getting it from the specialist lighting stores as long as you knew what you wanted to get.

In Japan, I remember seeing a decent selection of HID lamps in their hardware stores too.

The problem with our country is it’s one big health and safety obsessed nanny state!, even today you’re average household lamp from any DIY store says on the box, “if in doubt consult a qualified electrician”!
They don’t even trust you to replace your own bulbs!

That sucks. All LED now I guess, just like my local Home Depot.

I like all kinds of lighting and electrical, especially HIDs and street lights!
-  neon sign collector
- vintage and rare lamp collector
Power company: SCE (Southern California Edison) 120V, 60HZ
Westinghouse Lifeguard will always be my favorite lamp
Gotta love vintage HIDs!
