Hello, I’ve been looking for a clear mercury vapour lamp for some time that would work on a European mercury ballast (50, 80 or 125 watts). I’ve been looking on Ebay but lamp prices and postage are ridiculously expensive as most clear lamps are from the USA, also most are 175 watts which is a little too bright. Is there someone here who is in the EU and can provide me with such a lamp? Or maybe to help me find some cheapish lamps? I suppose a 100w USA lamp could also work on an 80w European ballast, but I’m not sure. Price can be discussed of course. Thank you!

The closest match for a US 100W mercury lamp is a 70W HPS ballast (without the ignitor, of course..!) although an 80W ballast will work, but it might get a bit hot.

You cold try and get a 75w lamp if you can find one as they are a pretty good match for 80w and They also sold a few 80w lamps over here for Oddball fixtures, Althogh both are pretty uncommon. They also had 50w lamps that im pretty sure are the same spec as a euro 50w lamp

Thank you for the information . I found this on Ebay: https://www.ebay.nl/itm/152244200985 I might buy one of these. Don’t know if the quality is any good but I really want a clear MV I think I’ve never seen a clear one in person.

Okay I didn’t know. Here in the Netherlands we have the coated mercury vapour bulbs for almost all wattages I think. In shopping malls for instance 3 years ago they had these pendant ceiling lights with 400w MV in them, deluxe coated mercury vapor ellipsoid bulbs (unless you really meant the clear versions) I don’t know what to expect from their light colour, maybe I’ve seen it all along and just haven’t noticed. I can’t wait! Will probably order one next week. Camera’s can be deceiving in colour sometimes

No, I meant the tubular ones. The trouble is, even those are becoming hard to find now, I just looked and couldn't see any on UK eBay, a couple of years ago they were everywhere

Those Caster ones are Chinese, so you might not get the life out of them. They'd be ok for the collection, though.
