Powell, did you notice that the "base information" is that it a Green Base ? I suppose that according to Philips, the colour of the base makes the lamp, so to speak.  ;)

It's a green ended Alto! Is that what you mean. It has a date code but I am 15 miles away from the lamps.

Powell, no, that is not what I meant. On the Philips web site, it lists the green end caps as one of the features of the bulb. As to say, 'our lamps are better than the competitor's because they have green caps.' I guess that according to Philips, good looks means a lot !  ;)

I thought it stood for ALTO, as recently I got a 20 watt NON Alto Phillips 5000K color lamp and it did not have green end caps. Well, I could always use a permanent black marker and give them BLACK ends........     ;D

Where were they made?

Philips ones here are normally Holland or Poland. GE is Hungary, normally. Sylvania is always Germany, within the EU. Also, you can get the 2ft 18w ones here for under £2, Sylvania Deluxe.

Here in the USA almost all Philips fluorescents are USA made. A few types such as the modern T5s and F15T8s.are made in Holland.
GE is mostly USA made, some come from Hungary. Osram Sylvania is all North America, mostly USA, some from Canada and Mexico.
SLI fluorescents are German.

Interestingly GE ones WERE made in England for a long, long time. Then a couple of years ago they started coming from Hungary, so I get Sylvania or Philips now. Crompton are the worst I've used, fell out of the fitting onto my head.

I haven't seen a GE made in USA in years. CW in Indonesia...some other colors (K&B Reveal) made in Hungary. I have a GE CW made in Chile, though!

I have only seen USA made Phillips. For the 6 and 8 watt T8 lamps.... mostly China NOW

I suppose you are talking about the F15T8 lamps specifically.
