After doing some experiments with North American magnetic ballast compatible LED tubes on North American 2 lamp F40T12 preheat fluorescent tube lead lag autotransformer ballasts, I have been noticing that the lead lag preheat ballasts seem to destroy the North American magnetic ballast compatible LED tubes and set them on fire even if European LED dummy starters are used in place of regular starters. While Europe has numerous preheat ballast compatible LED tubes, I am beginning to wonder whether any of them will get destroyed on the lead side of lead lag preheat circuits too. If possible, are there any European magnetic ballast compatible LED tubes on the market that are compatible with lead lag preheat circuits?

I think the North American magnetic ballast compatible LED tubes, are intended for Rapid-Start ballasts, which have lower OCV than the 240V of the NA preheat ballast.

I am still wondering if there are any European magnetic preheat ballast compatible LED retrofit tubes are compatible with lead lag preheat circuits. If so, I would be interested in knowing which European LED tubes will work on such circuits.

Because the LEDs use to have 1/2 of the power input vs the fluorescent, there uses to be no issue to just use directly the 230V rated LED tubes in the (former) preheat circuit. Regardless if it is the lag or lead side.
Contrary to the US, in Europe there is no question about the OCV, so one big variable less to make any compatibility troubles...

Those Amercan mag ballast replacement is ment for rapid start
Ballast these lamp are set up to get there power end to end.
And u notice these well also runs on electronic ballast too.
U need to pay attention to spec sheet it clear say not for preheat
Circuit. Second u need understand and why and how it wired
The EU fluorescent fixture
Wires like this
Starter
Hot —- ballast [ lamp ] ——— N
Now starter just shunt two cathodes in to preheat. Until voltage across lamp starts and drops voltage low enough to keep starter from triggering. That how it works
What u did is u took a led tube that is designed to run end to end
And u shorted the LED tube out that made for RS and instant start.
If u look at EU led tube it not much different to a direct wire one end
Led tube that uses hot and neutral at one end and it shorted at one end. And these tubes have a arrow wich way to install the tubes.
If u look at wiring diagram u see why there A led starter for EU led tubes
First u got direct wire 240 volt led tubes comming in at one pin. And neutral have come from other side of tube but it needs a neutral at other end of tube. U got a shorted end of a fluorescent tube on neutral side of the lamp. So led starter bring neutral to other end of direct wire lamp to make it connection.
This tube is ballast bypass or drop in retrofet for EU preheat
fluorescent.
Now there lot ballast bypass tubes that came on american market that wired on one end and not compatable to any fixture but to remove the ballast. But keep things simple they those type of led tube direct wire led tubes to bypass all ballast in USA. These will
Work on auto transformer ballast. Make sure it a 120 -277 volt led
Tube.
Second In the US the code changes for such tubes now requires
LED bypass tubes to have means to install them one way method
To prevent breaker trippings so they power Bi pin end and use slimine socket to hold other end of lamp to make tube installs one way.
