Title: Interesting retro LED streetlights?
Post by: Cole D. on November 13, 2022, 05:29:59 PM
I saw a picture of two interesting streetlights recently from a trade show.

One was an LED gum ball, made by “Cyclone” I think is the name.

The other was a Cooper LED thing like a Caretaker but it has a small radial wave reflector.

Did anyone see or hear about these?

Thanks for the tip on the LED gumball. The Cyclone Kanata is a exact match for the LED gumballs popping up in Toronto this past year.

Here's a picture of the radial wave Caretaker. I don't think it's available for purchase yet but it probably will be soon.

That radial wave reflector seems to small. Almost pointless having it.

The Caretaker with the fluted shield is available as of November 2, 2021.

How historical!

I thought so too at first, but looking again I think they made it smaller so that it works better with the LED assembly itself. A larger reflector wouldn’t reflect as well as the wavy parts would be too far away.

I think the radial wave would look better if they painted the top part green like the vintage radial waves. Maybe a small drop lens over the LEDs like the Cyclone Kanata gumball too.
