Today when I was exploring Google Maps, I saw a strange fixture that has never been utilized before on the city's main roads. This cobrahead was installed on a dirt road and is HPS.
-
This is a Skyline fixture
-
Yeah a Skylite #2404 (https://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-215574) made by Skyline Mfg. Ltd. of Toronto, ON.
-
It's interesting that they used the same Holophane #4243 refractor as the American-Electric 25/125.
-
Interesting, I didn't even notice the connection and I own a AEL 125. ::)
-
I wonder why they weren't common on the main roads if they were made in Toronto.
-
I'm guessing most were originally MV and so got wiped out during the HPS conversion. Just like how clamshells used to be common on the main roads but you'd be hard pressed to find one now.
There's a few survivors in the GTA, Here's one (https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.7922276,-79.4476414,3a,20.1y,68.96h,123.11t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjYRJni5l-_BeSd9OrrV3cw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) I found only a month ago.

The one I found on google maps could have possibly been MV and could have been converted. When was skyline discontinued?

I've always thought if there was a GTA VI - The 6ix set in a fictionized Toronto would be a nice nod to Toronto. :lol:
