iirc arc tube blackening is what makes them cycle at eol.

They are certainly well used, could be EoL.  Been my experience that some EOL's look like that, but others will be completely dark on the tube.

They look a bit toasted to me, the seller doesn't state the duty cycle so they could have been on 24/7!

I think they are, or at least very close

I have few EOL HPS lamps that will cycle only when they want to, and not allways - probbly depends on the line voltage at the moment, and as i noticed, on the _ignitor_ in the fixture (yep the ignitor will sometimes be the one to repeatedly kick out a lamp that would not be cycling on is own, causing it to cycle with normal cycling intervals of few minutes)

Those HPS will tend to cycle at EoL.  I would not get them if it were I personally.  They just have too much life used up already.
