In the 1970's-90's you could visit the Dallas Power and Light salvage yards and buy anything you wanted that they had. And it was sold as "weight" for salvage. Form 109's went for 2.35 while Joslyn gumballs went for 1.50. You could buy 4/0 brass Kearney's for a dollar where they would cost you 40.00 at a supply house. If you wanted something just give the yard man a list and he would call you when it came in. Simplicity and serenity.
It was a neat time to be in the electrical business.

Yeah I wish I was born like 50 years before I was lol. If I was born in 1940 instead of 1990 I'd be set.

Yeah, it's too bad we can't get old fixtures and things these days from utility companies. Other than on eBay but the prices, are high.

I had a contact at the power company in my hometown like 5 years ago. He let me dumpster dive for streetlights a few times. Even sold me a brand new in box OVH at their cost and included a lamp and photocontrol. He gave me some used photocontrols too.

One of my neighbors worked for the power company, but they retired a few years ago. Too bad I wasn't looking to get street lights back then.

Yeah, I was given my first two streetlights (a Powerlite B2255 and a Sylvania R47) years ago from a someone that had a contact with one of the streetlighting contractors. The rest were all from Restore and antique stores.

I have around 10 streetlights so I haven't really looked that hard now unless it really stands out to me.
