Seriously, is this guy on some form of drug? https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-NEW-SYLVANIA-175W-MERCURY-VAPOR-COATED-LIGHT-BULB-ED28-BASE-H39KC-175/132811520365?hash=item1eec2ef96d:g:KGcAAOSwD~FbuoZU
(Admin edit - Listing has ended due to an error in the listing, I attached screenshot of the listing and moved this topic to general discussion)

This listing has been brought up in discussions here before already. Sellers sometimes raise the price of an item to a ridiculous price when they go on vacation so people won't buy the item. Then they lower the price when they get back.
-
Those Chinese made Sylvania's aren't even worth $5 each.
-
Its a stupid thing to do when they have two options, take the listing down or put up an alert on the ad "this seller is currently away until (--- -- ----)" They will damage their reputation with setting wrong prices like that

Taking the listing down just means they will have to pay their insertion fees again to relist the item. You have to have a eBay store subscription to have the ability to put a vacation notice on your listing. I was informed this by eBay when I wanted to do it before I left town to go to school. I wanted to put my listings in vacation mode so I called eBay for help how to do it and they told me only eBay store subscribers have the ability to put vacation mode on their listings. Which explains why I did not see that option on my listings. The only option was for me to put an automatic email notice on my account. So when a buyer purchased one of my items they would get my automatic email. Which doesn't help me too much since I still get automatic marks against me for not shipping the item on time. So jacking up the price is probably the best choice for non eBay store subscribers.

Oh well ebays the stupid one then for the fee to relist and the red tape requiring a store in order to do it.

Yeah I know. When I went to school I had to end my more than 50 listings. And after a certain amount of time the ended listings delete from your ended listings list. So I had to redo many of my listings. A lot of work to have buyers go and make low ball offers for your stuff lol. That's why I've been jacking up my prices. I've been adding shipping cost to the listings so the buyer pays for shipping now too on most of my listings.

I see the same thing on Amazon too, usually obscenely high prices like that are used to either indicate the seller or item is not available.

It says two were sold for $30 each

Definitely not worth $30. If they were NOS from Manchester, NH, that would be a different matter.

Why the over 100000% increase in price?

If you read the whole thread your answer is right above.

I wouldn’t pay $10 for Chinese MV lamps like that!
