Possible T17 fixtures « on: June 28, 2013, 12:22:08 AM » Author: nicksfans
Was looking through photos of historic hospitals, and whaddya know...

http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/buildings/weston/wesh_26.html

I wish the photo was bigger, but there are many of what appear to be T17 "shoplight" fixtures hanging in this hallway.

That picture looked pretty interesting to me so I did a quick internet search and found this picture which is much bigger.

Looking at the pic, the lampholders are medium bi-pin type ones which means the fixture is T12.

Bonus pic of the lights.

You're right. Definitely T12. Bummer, it would've been great to see so many T17s all together.

Same here, so far I know the US, Canada and Australia all used T17s at one point. Too bad they're so rare nowadays.

If yall can be patient, you will see 18 F90T17s in use all together in my pole barn.  I have been super busy, so I have not gotten the wiring done in the barn, but when I do, it will be the only working installation of T17s I know of.

In the larger picture, there is what looks like a 200 watt incandescent bulb on the ceiling!

There is another one on th wall in teh original picture. But it might be either disconnected old light from before the fluorescents, or may be a nightlight (for low light levels). Now, in the 2nd case it might be that they used hard service lamps to make them last longer (avoid having to replace them all the time). And then, it might be that they used streetlighting lamps which would be bigger than the normal lamps for the same wattage (for example 100w lamps made in the 150-200w envelope in order to match the optics of shovel floods)
