Run this code and find out, compared to your observable spectrum.

Some nifty emulation of the spectral distributions of many non-LED popular lamps, which allows for direct utility calculations based on many different parameters including chromaticity, space type, lifetime, occasion, application, cost and efficiency. 7 such parameters are used with constrained weight optimization to fish out some of the more popular lamp types used in many situations today:

Will be modified some time later to deal with LEDs. Based on elemental spectral data published by NIST.

All pictures therein were generated using this code.

If you have Maple and want to run the code that produces these and do some tests for your lamps, see:

"Full-spectrum" index, based on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's metric.

Suggestions 4 Improvements/Errors @ followup, here.

Please neither underestimate yourself nor overestimate the quoted article. It requires nothing more than Physics 101, if even that. As a lighting enthusiast, you should familiarize yourself with at least a couple of notions from therein, color, light and chromaticity notwithstanding. It does contain some advanced stuff which might prove to be useful, such as the so called "full-spectrum" index, but such are barely mentioned in the calculations and you don't really need it.

It is mostly concerned with utility of various lamp types, stuff any lighting enthusiast should be familiar with.

It also happens to me with some articles and replies. Sometimes a little simplification helps me understand it better.

Exactly, I don't have any fancy measuring equipment much beyond a multi meter.  :wndr:
I just like looking at the lights as they come on and change colour as the arc tube warms up.  8)
