T17 Spotted in Toronto « on: April 05, 2021, 11:59:00 PM » Author: joseph_125
I was looking through some urban exploration pictures and I came across this gallery. Picture number 10 caught my eye as the tubes in the light on the left look to be a bit wider than your typical T12. Unfortunately the light is no more as the factory floor section got demolished while the tower got renovated as a museum.

T17 stuff was used in Canada at one point but they seem to be impossible to find now.

What do y'all think?

Looks like the 3 foot  T-17 preheat version but then again it’s hard to tell,

One things for sure If it is the 3 foot version they didn’t make bulbs for that fixture for very long . Those bulbs would have had to have Ben brass end cappers ,

Sure wish the T-17  -  3 footers survived - One can only dream,

Now that would have been a neat find. It's a shame this light is probably no more. I believe the 3ft T17 was only made for a couple years during WWII and so are a lot rarer than the 5ft T17s.

Wow a shorty 3ft T17 lamps? I wonder there even on old catalog?

I just quick look up the old 1942 book fluorescent manual it said there do existed T17 65watt at 36 inches length.

Yeah my understanding is that it was only made for a few years in the 1940s and was "temporarily" discontinued due to supply shortages and never made again. There's a couple of examples of this lamp on LG. No pictures of the fixtures or the gear though.

GE Mazda 65w T17 Daylight #1

GE Mazda 65w T17 Daylight #2

According to this 1942 price listing, it sold for $1.66 back then and was available in white or daylight.

Wow, interesting history. That must be rare shorty T17 lamps even unique with factory fixture.

Yeah very rare lamp. One could only hope for a cache of these to emerge from a dusty warehouse lol. If they do, prices probably won't be cheap. :o

Maybe they will pop up the future and surprise us... They have to be somewhere hiding so deep long time. Maybe even old WW2 surplus supplies stash in storage that haven't touch for many years!
But if ever gets to Ebay then could be over thousand dollar for 1 or 2 lamps F65T17.  :poof: :curse: :slap:

It would be also very cool to see if exist... the shorty 2ft F24PG17 and 3ft F36PG17!  :mrg:

I don't think GE ever made any production PG lamps shorter than 4ft but they made this 18 inch sales sample in small quantities. It's even half coated.  :o

There were also some partially 4ft PGs, I linked here.

Another rare one are the first generation PGs with the grooves on only one side.
