I mostly don't. If I do, it is usually with someone else's 3D printer. I am considering getting my own, but probably won't.

But it is true the "3D printers" were the "flagships" introducing CNC into consumer market segment. So you may also go for e.g. laser engraver/cutter, router/milling machine,... Depends what is your favorite materials and the available space for it and how much mess from the machine you may "afford" there (the filament extruder "3D printer" is indeed one of the cleanest)...
