I still have an old Nokia 3560 that I got 16 years ago.  It still powers on, but the TDMA network it connected to is long gone.

Fortunately they have not switched off the 2G network that these use. I don't think they can easily, there are too many "phone home" remote monitoring devices that use it.

I use an iPhone 11, it’s perfectly fine for me and I don’t really think I’ll need to upgrade for a long time.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

We just don't trust anything "smart" - you don't know what they're doing or reporting in the background. We just want phones that make phone calls.

I know what you mean, sometimes it’s unsettling to hear about how much data these companies collect from people without them knowing. Apple at least gives me the option to turn off their ability to collect usage data and diagnostics, and I don’t use their cloud storage, so I think most of my data is safe anyway.

The worst for data mining is Amazon, I saw a BBC documentary last year that made me close my account on the spot

I also don't do Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/TicToc(the very worst of the lot)/etc/whatever else 'social media' is out there. ------ Oh and I'm fine with 'smart' devices (I have a smart-TV for example)...as long as they will function normally without being connected to the internet.
