True or false:
A vertical mounted LPS has a shorter life then a LPS that's placed horizontal.

True, only if the lamp is mounted base down, I think ;). Please, anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Yes that is true only if operated base down because the liquid sodium will run behind the electrodes and cause that area of the glass to be chemically attacked by the molten sodium causing a crack now operated base up the opposite can but doesn't always happen the liquid sodium can form large light blocking mirrors and cause a lamp to be very very dim

Depends on the wattage. LPS from 18 tot 55 watt can also be mounted with base up. Higher wattage must be always mounted horizontal.

18-55 watt LPS lamps can be operated base up, but lumens drop very slightly. I don't know if it affects life at all tho.
