Lights near railroads/crossings? « on: January 25, 2025, 07:31:56 AM » Author: Cole D.
Has anyone seen lighting at real road crossings or near the tracks?

Here I’ve seen a crossing that has a GE Powrflood next to the track, aimed away from the crossing, a bronze one. It’s been disconnected for quite a long time I think.

Also in the next county, I’ve seen lots of streetlights near the railroads at the phosphate mines. Mostly GE M-400A2 fixtures, some on four arm setups. And at a crossing there were also two HPS NEMA heads that were all twisted around.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Filament LEDs. Both a blessing and a curse.

Yes, just down the road from my old house there were three dayburning OV-15s in a row with broken polycarbonate diffusers. They were green as sin and were on all day, every day. Those poor souls were finally replaced in 2023, with RoadFocus RFMs.

Oh that reminds me, at the CSX storage yard there was a GE M400A2 with a very yellowed refractor, but it was replaced with some kind of LED,

Across the street at the train station, there are a bunch of GE Powerfloods, 400 W bronze ones, along with a ton of reproduction radial wave things along the platform and tracks.

As far as I know, this is the only crossing (around here) that has such an abundant amount of illumination.
