Ball park estimates on modern streetlight prices... « on: December 15, 2025, 05:29:47 AM » Author: HomeBrewLamps
Curious If any of you have ordered LED street lights from electrical distributors or online, and how much they cost you? I was kinda curious how much a Leotek GC2-96N-MV-WW-5-GY-1050-FDC or GC2-96N-MV-22K-5-GY-1050-FDC. would cost. As these are pretty nice in the installations I have seen around. by far the least glary and most pleasant light colors. If it comes down to it I will go physically retrieve a price estimate from the local distributor but I am curious of your experiences.

Obviously, it would depend on the exact model. But what I know is that the city of Detroit spent $3,900,000 on 25,000 Leotek LED streetlights, which comes out to $156 per streetlight. But that is on a bulk purchase. Although you could expect most models to cost anywhere from $150-$300 when bought individually.

This is the most similar I could find to the configuration you want. https://ebay.us/m/hnCzbj

@NeXe Lights Honestly 200 dollars for a brand new modern off the factory line light is not completely unreasonable in this day and age... 300 is pushing it a little. I might consider adding an LED of my spec to my collection at some point. 2200K LED street light would be fun. 1050 drive current of course...... we don't run weak lights around here

Yep, I spend $395 aud on a brand new 27w LED lantern from the manufacturer, in the exact specs that I wanted. They are used all around me in rural areas, mine is species exactly the same as those.

Gaash used to have a couple LED streetlights with actual proper optics, that look nice and perform well other than the light spectrum (big body, reflector of same type as for HID lamp, with Philips LED module bolted in the precise point in the reflector) but i think they were discontinued in favor of "greener and smarter designs"

Local wholesalers here stock Chinese things of varying levels of junkiness for around $100..$150/each. Some of them might prove to last for a while but it will take years to find out the ones that unintentionally came out better...

Trying to imagine how much electricity they are trying to save with this conversion. 25000 150W HPS lamps burning 8 hours each night take about $2M a year (And i imagine there are many lamps of different wattages there). But to give the same light LEDs will have to draw about the same power as well

So far i haven't seen any LED conversion that would perform better than just retrofitting to 1 or 2 steps lower power HPS lamps in the same luminaires
