I honestly don’t care. My old username was “ dan_dan_the_lightbulb_man” when I first joined in 2011 and I think for people that was a mouth full to type out. People quickly started calling me Dan , Danny or Daniel. So I decided to change it to Danny.

I have nothing to hide. And I’m not suggesting anyone here does, so I have no reason to hide my real name.  so you can call me by anything.. most of you will know my full name on my Facebook anyway.

It would be nice to know people’s names, and who’s behind the screen name as I class most people on here friends / acquaintances. But if you want to remain private that’s totally your choice..

When I joined, my username was 'obsessedstreetlight24'... I asked Patrick to change it once I got familiarized with the forum and its members.

Sometimes it just takes a little bit of time and a concerted effort to learn something new. Don't give up before you get where you want to go.

MAXIMUM LUMENS!!!

Re: Name preferences « Reply #18 on: October 16, 2026, 08:10:24 PM » Author: Lcubed3
I don't want my name to be associated with this screen name.

I don't mind if people on this site know this name, but since everything is indexed on Google
I'd like to have a separate "Lcubed3" persona. That way I can upload my voice and image without
fear of it being AI'd. (I've been very careful to not to connect my location or voice to anything
related to my name - although I have left some hints on this profile if you're really curious.)

Is it paranoid? Probably. I just don't like the idea of people being able to look me up.

You can call me Daniel, as well as by my username.

I like math, lighting, computers and electronics(but I detest pointless ruinage of nice old stuff). LEDs should be better thought out. they are actually quite good if they are good quality. They should be built to a long life not to a cheap price!

Vintage HID Collector

Re: Name preferences « Reply #21 on: Today at 12:24:26 PM » Author: BT25
I originally went with WestinghouseCeramalux when I joined LG...switched to BT25 being that its four characters like my name, and my favorite lamp shape. Personally,  I'm fine with Eric or BT25...
Not to sound paranoid, but anything and everything posted online stays in some data center somewhere...post according. Think AI is crazy now? It's only ramping  up...

I just go by @Omnilight37 and I am a very private person and I don't want people online knowing my real name, face or identity, although that may change in the future.

Rich, Rollercoaster junkie!

Re: Name preferences « Reply #23 on: Today at 02:56:15 PM » Author: AngryHorse
AngryHorse is just a user name, I'd prefer people called me Rich, I respect other members preferences, however it does intrigue me why this is a big problem for people on forums? 🤔
I can understand AgentHalogen's situation, and people that have sensitive jobs, but for those members, (including myself), that has just an interest in lighting, it really doesn't make a difference who knows who I am?

Slightly drifting off topic, the horse in my Avitar picture, her name is Arnie Rose 😉

My user name has been DimBulb since I joined LG in 2008, so I think I'll keep it!
My actual name is Henry and I don't mind being addressed as such.
