May be getting rid of my collection « on: August 11, 2026, 11:12:34 PM » Author: Cole D.
I’ve decided I’m probably not going to be getting any more streetlights unless they fall across my lap. At 37, I still can’t afford a place of my own, so I can’t really use them or obtain much more. I just lost my dad to cancer this summer after a seven month downhill battle, and now I’m taking care of my mom who has advanced Alzheimer’s. It’s really draining and I work part time and then the rest of my week is caregiving, so I don’t really have the mental or physical energy, let alone time for hobbies anymore.

I’m just trying to survive right now and pay her and my bills, so I can’t really do much else. Like I said, I’m getting up there, so it’s not looking like I’ll ever be able to afford a home where I can use this stuff, and I don’t know how many years this will go on anyway where I just can’t get into the hobby. And I don’t have the skills to run wiring and put up poles and stuff like that. I really miss my dad who helped me with a lot of stuff. Most of my collection isn’t worth much, so I guess I’ll just hold onto what I have for now and figure out how to liquidate later.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

Sorry to hear your passing on your father.  My late father passed away in 2015.

Take care of your mother and be well.  You can just hold off or find a member around your area to give your collection away safely on good hand :)

I'm truly sorry to hear that you've had to go through this, I can't imagine what it would be like.

I wish you only the best in the future, both in you and your moms health and happiness. :)

... You've got people out there, and on here, who care about you, including me. I'm sorry for your loss, @Cole D. I promise, even though this may seem
grim, things will eventually get better as time goes on.
