Generally for most lighting in the house I prefer traditional incandescent. I do use halogen PAR30s in my track lights.
But where fluorescent is used as in my kitchen and both bathrooms I like Daylight 6500K the best. Though I really miss the GE Chroma 50 Sunshine tubes.
My main bedroom though has 6500K Daylight CFLs as I like the clean refreshing color.

For low power lights, I would prefer 2700K and for nightlights I would prefer 2700K if it is incandescent, or 2000K and lower if it is LED.
I like very much high CRI 5000K. I had a Sylvania HSI-TD 70W/D, which made this color at 5600K. However its ceramic lampholders broke. And now I've an Osram HQI-TS 70W/D as well as Aliexpress 5000K lamps, which have lower CRI. The Sylvania had Dy-Tl-Cs, which produces high CRI, the Osram have Dy-In-Tl-Na and the Aliexpress have Na-Sc-Dy-Tl, both have lower CRI.
I wish we have 5000K fluorescents and CFLs.

Here is what I believe to be the “correct” color temp. for every room of the house:

Living Room: 2700K
Dining Room: 2700K
Kitchen: 2700-4100K (warmer is more preferable)
Bedroom: 2700K (or less if you prefer)
Bathroom: 2700-4100K (2700-3000K preferable for guest bath, 3500-4100K preferable for bathrooms where makeup is applied)
Home Office: 3000-4100K (2700K also OK)
Laundry Room: 3500-6500K (2700K is OK if you have incandescent fixtures, but I would highly recommend using cooler bulbs for this room)
Garage: 4100-6500K (2700K is OK if you have incandescent fixtures, but I would highly recommend using cooler bulbs for this room)
Hallways: 2700-3000K
Closets/Storage: Any (warmer is more preferable)
Basements: Really depends on the use (warmer for living spaces, cooler for working spaces)
Exterior: 2700K, or HID of any type for large areas
Night lights: ≤2700K

I typically use 2700K (or 3000K fluorescent) for living spaces as well as kitchens and bathrooms, and 4100K for all working spaces.

1800K

My house is as follows:
Bathrooms, kitchen, spare bedrooms, living room, side door light, are all ~2700k. Mix of CFL, fluorescent, LED, CMH, and incandescent. Main bedroom has 3000 and 2700k for the big louvered light, and the floor lamps are low color temp vintage style incandescent.  Laundry room/film lab, garage, and back door light are all 4100k. Front porch light and the back, and the side of the garage is HPS so like 2200k. The one light on the front of the garage is clear MV. I guess that's like 6000k, but its green.  As you can see I'm not particularly a big fan of daylight colored bulbs.

@xelareverse – you have one of the coolest, if not THE coolest house exterior lights on L-G.
