Chicago CMH Streetlights « on: June 14, 2011, 11:33:33 PM » Author: Patrick
Here is a brief article about the new ceramic metal halide streetlights being installed in Chicago.

Quote
First Choice in the Second City Three letters—CMH, not LED—define Chicago’s new street lighting strategy. Spearheading the transition is the city DOT’s chief engineer, Mohammed Rashed.

I've posted a couple photos of the new lights (daytime, nighttime).

Interesting article, thanks for posting. I looked high and low for an article on this. I don't think Chicago is alone though. The utility here in Southern California now offers pulse start metal halide at the request of the cities. Compton, CA recently switched its whole town to metal halide, including CMH, both city and utility owned lights. The CMHs are not Cosmopolis lamps though, they are the new 150w ED23.5s with a 24000 hour life.
