Try finding rapid start ballast in USA ebay. under VHO ballast that is rated for 1500 mA
that where I would start looking. there lot of 277 volt ballast that is cheaper to get
they should run fine on 240 volts as ballast runs 10+/- percent of line voltage.

well here one that would run both of your lamps. that would do two 4 footer or single
 lamp up to 8 foot.

No LED gadgets, spins too slowly.  Gotta  love preheat and MV. let the lights keep my meter spinning.

Does it specifically have to be an RS ballast?
140W chokes are readily available in Europe for Suntanning lamps.  Tridonic EC140 is quite easy to find.  They're even used for running the HID tanning lamps : a 250W tanning metal halide lamp normally works on 1x 100W + 1x 140W fluorescent, the typical 500W HID works with 1x 400W mercury + 1x 140W fluorescent etc.

Hi James, hi Funkybulb

Didn't know that Tridonic still makes them, may I have to look after them but the other problem is the starter which must be at least a S 12 or S 16
for high wattage lamps but they aren't available anymore...

That's why I ask about a RS ballast.
