Beware Of Incandescent Bulb Prices « on: August 29, 2014, 10:05:06 PM » Author: Steele1992
I was just at Menard's yesterday, and the prices of incandescent bulbs have just got obscene. 75W and 100W by Home Luminaire are nowhere to be found either. I think it's because they are trying to discourage bulb hoarders. You would think they would price them as low as possible so that they can be rid of them, and not throw them out to the dump when they don't sell.

Buyer's Choice 100W 4-packs: $9.99 (up from $1.29)

Sylvania 4-packs: $4.99 (up from $0.99)

Incognito Sylvania 75W 4-packs: $8.99 (up from $1.49)

Home Luminaire 12-packs: $11.99 (up from $2.97)

I collect exit signs, preferably vintage ones.

I also have a little bit of a thing for light bulbs, too. Of course, hoarding them due to the incandescent bulb ban.

Sounds like supply and demand at work here.
The less there is of something the more its worth. :D

All the more reason to have done my bulk acquisitions in 2007 to 2011.  I presume many other collectors who saw this coming are of the same mind.

I did mine from spring 2013/ spring 2014.   http://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=11262&pos=9&pid=92449

I just didn't get them fast enough before the price shot up.  There's always ReStore, and some grocery stores too. eBay too, but I don't know how well bulbs would do being shipped via mail.
