50w MV ballast. « on: July 28, 2015, 09:31:07 AM » Author: bucket175mv
Hi there.

I'm currently working on building a custom Regent CBL25 mini bucket 50w MV fixture. 35/39 watt PSMH magnetic ballasts are around in my area but way to much$$

Would anyone have a 50w MV ballast like an Advance 71A1800?

Thanks :)

I have a 50w pulse start metal halide ballast if you want to trade something for it.

Wouldn't a single lamp 40 watt Preheat ballast work? I've seen them run mercs before.

Yes, but would be underdriven. So practically only horizontal burning, when the gravity pulls the liquid mercury from the colder electrode area. And it really has to be a full power ballast...

You could try a magnetic 39w metal halide ballast sans Ignitor ir you could use a 50w mh, same precautions. The latter will overdrive lamps.
