Another one: "Armstrong Steering" (A well-known/coined phrase describing the firmness of the non-power-steering-assisted steering wheel in a '60s-'70s-'80s "Deuce and a Half" surplus 2-1/2 ton 6X6 military truck...really well known joke/phrase among people like myself who know these trucks...

In a lighting related concept, i got the instruction manual from a LED retrofit lamp for streetlights. Long story short, manual tells to bypass the HID gear. They call the ignitor "flip flop"

Oh and someone I know and myself use the phrase "LED" to refer to any new technology, even if it's non-lighting.

I call "LED" anything that fails to do its function - LED battery drill, LED mailbox (breaks apart after the 1st wind), ....

I like to pronounce LED as a word (like the past tense of the verb to lead). In French, I find it very appropriate to describe such lamps as the pronunciation is the same as the adjective "laide" which is the feminine declination of the adjective "laid" which means "ugly".

I pronounce it as in led too.
So if you get laid in French, you become ugly? :P

Well, we won't get into those details...

Usually in French we say "coucher avec (someone)" which means literally going to bed with someone.

Another one I coined a couple days ago:

"Legstrong  Clutch Pedal".  Inspired by the universally-known "Armstrong Steering"...Legstrong Clutch is the clutch pedal in a Deuce.   (It took all my leg could do!)
