How to convert 277v HPS ballast to 120V? « on: May 30, 2016, 11:04:22 AM » Author: M250R201SA
Is this even possible, or do I need to get a whole new ballast?

It's not possible, unless you have a step up transformer.
I would recommend checking out the 1000bulbs.com HPS ballasts. They are very cheap:

Well a bit of good news, I got the OVZ today, and turns out it is a Multi-Tap ballast, so I simply snipped the connection to the 277V wire, and re-wired it for 120V, and it is now ready for use.  It lacks a photoelectric control, so all I gotta do is connect it to my switch, and on/off.  I'm pretty happy to have a new OVZ.  The OVX is on the way.
