Finally got an M250R1... HUNDREDS of old CobraHeads available « on: June 17, 2016, 04:02:15 PM » Author: M250R201SA
I finally got an M250R1.  It's in rough shape, but I feel like I can clean it out and restore it, re-spray it, and I have a brand new Yellow 25 NEMA label I can stick on it.  It came with the glass bowl and all with the GE logo on it.  I need to get a GE Photoelectric receptacle, as it is missing that, but it can be re-wired.  The ballast, at first glance, seems to be in excellent condition, so after I restore the outer shell, I'll clean up the inside a little bit and wire it up.

I'll get some before pics and put them up.  The guy I got it from has HUNDREDS of old cobra-heads,  Hubbell, GE M250A POWR/DOORs, M250A2 POWR/DOORs, GE M400Rs, Name it, he had it.  I got his last M250R1 though, lucky me.  The M250R1 looks like it was made in the early 80s.  The gray paint is faded, but I'll re-spray it, and clear-coat it.

Good lanterns. Also the Hubbell RMG that were installed around here in the late 80s/through the 90s

He only charges $40.00 per light, which I thought was a good price considering I could have bought 4 different ones with the money I had in my pocket at the time.  Found him on Craigslist

All I need is some tools and experience in restoring it.  The only issue I have is, it only runs on 208V, so I need to find a 208V Line Supply in order to hook it up.  Doesn't matter to me, I just wanna clean it up, make it look as new as possible again, and put it in my collection.
I have tons of 120V fixtures.  2 M250R2s, 1 OVZ, 4 201SA (1 175w Merc, 1 250w Merc, 2 100w HPS), so to have a 208V M250R1 doesn't bother me at all as long as I can get it cleaned up, re-sprayed, and clear coated to a luster shine :-)

Nice that you finally got one. Do you plan on installing a MV ballast to make it more "classic" sometime?

I need to find a MV NEMA Label.  I would hate to have a MV ballast and an HPS NEMA Label.  Just wouldn't feel right.  But yes, I do plan to install a MV Ballast in there eventually.  The HPS Ballast in there is only a ST, so it only accepts 208V.  My MV Ballast only accepts 120V, so that would be a good ballast to install.  If I could find a 17 NEMA Label.
