We received the following question by e-mail.  Would any of you be able to provide some insight?

This lighting column just off  Renfrew road at the roundabout at kingsinch drive in Glasgow has my friend and I puzzled, Can you give us some history on it AGE, and TYPE of Column and the reasoning behind the Stand/Platform partial way up it.

The lantern looks to be a G.E.C. Z8430CM probably from the 1960s, maybe 50s, don't know about the column though.
