Newer traffic signal systems will now have LED streetlighting. « on: April 18, 2018, 04:34:21 PM » Author: lightinglover8902
There will be LED streetlighting at newer traffic signal systems and pedestrian crossing signal systems, for intersections, and crosswalks that don't have a traffic signal or a pedestrian crossing signal system. I saw a new traffic signal system installed with LED streetlighting to provide illumination for the intersection. So let me know that if your area is doing the same thing. Unlike replacing existing fixtures with LED ones in original traffic signal systems, its unlikely that now that they're no longer using HPS fixtures. Because this "energy rebates", possible in the future that HID bulb makers like Sylvania, Philips, and other makers may stop making HID lamps.

So lets keep HID STRONG!!!  AND SAY NO TO LED!!!

Whos with me?

They were converted to LED years ago.

Pretty much every traffic light in Australia from what I've seen has been LED for a few years now.

The traffic lights have been led for years here too. Long enough for some to wear out. Others have dead pixels in them. The only thing about the led ones out in the country were there aren't any street lights is that the traffic signals are blinding and you can't really see past them at night time. I usually slow down a bit when crossing an intersection because of this.

I think what he meant was the streetlights at the crossings will now be LED.

Yeah the signals here have been LED for years too. There aren't any traffic signals in rural areas anywhere around here so I haven't noticed the glare mentioned.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

No, not the traffic lights, the LED streetlight fixtures for illumination for the intersection. Thats what I'm talking about. Not the traffic lights.

Ah! I misunderstood. We don't have intersection illumination unless someone has lights on their property that's near an intersection and light just happens to trespass into the road area from their property. It's pretty common though.

No, not the traffic lights, the LED streetlight fixtures for illumination for the intersection.
Any intersection here that has a trafficlight, also has atleast 2 streetlights (some have up to 8 )... and most any intersection thats on a even somewhat-main street has atleast streetlights - even if there is no trafficlight. And in my particular neighborhood (+ all the surrounding ones) all the little intersections also have a streetlight.

Many of the main streets are being converted to LED (including ofcourse intersections), but there is still plenty of HPS around.
And neighborhoods are fully HPS.

There are other towns/areas where its basically all LED even in neighborhoods.

And other towns/areas where its main streets are HPS & neighborhoods MV. (but LEDs are showing up there too)
