Sylvania F34DX/SS ??? « on: December 05, 2018, 02:34:46 PM » Author: Lightingguy1994
I found an add on Uline about lightbulbs and it let me to their listing for T12s where they list sylvania lamps available in 4100K and 6500K both SuperSaver 34. I would so love to get my hands on some to see what its about but for 100+ a case of 30 its to much.

Heres the specs:
FEATURES:
Rapid start

SPECIFICATIONS:
Lumens:
Initial: 1,930
Mean: 1,565
CRI (Color Rendering Index): 88
Vendor ID: F34DX/SS

I'm not that familiar with US market lamp specs, but I thought the 34W were supposed to be more efficient replacements (that I understood as having the same output) for F40's, but I see they have barely the same efficacy.
So what was the point of their introduction if not a more efficient F40 variant?

F34s have always been less lumens than F40s to save on watts however F34s are supposed to be around 2600 or 2700 lumens. In fact the case of GE wattmiser 34s are 2650 lumens. F40s are supposed to be around 3200 lumens.

Now a days in order to make T8 and LED look better, they make the F34s under 2000L and the F40s are around 2600L or less, the GE ones are 2900L but sylvania F40s are 2150L.

Regarding the F34. I thought that daylight ones were rare and werent made after 1995 epact rules. But it looks like they still make them. But of course being DX Hi cri and low lumens. If it was cheaper id still get a case just cause
