Next gen. Philips Hue lamps « on: September 24, 2019, 01:41:03 AM » Author: Edmund Ironside
Have you guys seen the new generation of Hue lamps from Philips (Signify)? The new antique filament style lamps looks just like those classic old beehive neon lamps. The next gen of Hue can be controlled directly by bluetooth with limited funtionality or with a Hue bridge you get full function.

That's pretty awesome.

Next they should make filament lamps that can change color.

They seems cool, much better than normal LED filament lamps! But I haven't ever seen them in use.

Yes, or atleast a White-Ambiance filament lamp.

We have got them in stores now but i have yet to see a demo of them. One of our local stores has a demo case from Philips, i hope they will update it to contain the new lamps.

I see no point in wireless controlled white LED bulbs.

If you want home automation for white lighting, it's better to change out the light switches for Wifi or BT versions.

I currently have 3 types of RGBW LED wireless lighting. Osram Lightify, LIFX, and some Chinese RF controlled types.

I only use the wireless functions for changing colors,  and I set them to remember the color after power cycling. I find it's still much better to use a normal wall switch with these lamps, as I can't always count on the App for the light to work correctly. At least with wireless wall switches, they look normal and act normal if your network or App is having issues. Having each bulb be assigned to a network and need the power switch on all the time, relying on an app to turn on the bulbs....yeah no thanks.
