@xmaslightguy: That’s pretty intense.
I watched some storm chaser vids yesterday, one of them filmed the tornado at a distance during the night. If you lived out there the only way you could see it is by lightning. Once I saw it was a monster wedge tornado I knew whoever was in its path was screwed.

Mile wide monsters. Nothing is more deadlier, especially in the dead of night.

Is it true that it rained cats and dogs over in England back in the 17th century Ria? That sounds pretty extreme.

Somewhere There Is Light(ning)

Is it true that it rained cats and dogs over in England back in the 17th century Ria? That sounds pretty extreme. This would be a very special storm, starts with: Heavy rain... To (raining) hail... <then nature does some magic> Raining Cats & Dogs is the next level... And there is one final level: Raining Men... Those last 2 are storms you'd certainly not be hiding in the basement, you go out and video them! (just like a tornado) Though I'm not sure the weather lady is right in "the street's the place to go" .LOL. you want some sorta roof over you, and you'd want to avoid any of those large falling objects! Where do the Cats & Dogs go after the storm?

And back on the topic of severe weather, we had some strong winds here on Wed. Saw some trees down (including 1 large pine). & some other damage to fences & a building.
Not how strong we actually got in my area, but gusts of 80+ mph were forecast.
Same weather system generated thunderstorms & tornadoes starting in Nebraska & going all the way up to Wisconsin.

A couple of days ago we got a storm that brought a good 6-8 inches of snow! We're supposed to have another storm before Christmas too.

You can keep the white stuff. Always goes down the back of my neck, then I find the one icy spot under the snow and fall over, invariably ending up with a large bruise somewhere

Aaahh the joys of winter! And you forget the immense pleasure of removing that 5mm layer of ice, thanks to icing rain, that's fused to the windshield!

Long live the sodium lamps!

This isn’t really “severe” weather, but California has certainly been getting a lot of rain recently. Another 2 inches is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday where I live. It’s great to have so much rain to improve the drought conditions!

I am interested in all kinds of lighting, especially induction, HPS, and LPS/SOX. I rarely collect lighting due to space concerns, but I have always enjoyed taking photos of it! Other interests include hiking, making videos, and surfing.

Those “ice pellets” are called sleet. I’ve had that before. It will be 80*F where I live on Christmas Day.
