Further info, maker could be Franklin Mazda. It would have to be a discharge lamp neon or argon, you can see from one of the photos a resistor in the stem and the feed in wires look to be platinum, perhaps James may know this lamp certainly very interesting.

Just been told the lamp is no longer available, looks like it may of been sold outside ebay which sounds dodgy to me especially as I gave more info and asked him to test the lamp and he said he would and wait further message from him and then told by ebay lamp no longer available.... Sounds fishy to me....any comments.?

Further to this, dare I say scam, I have heard nothing from the seller re my first comments so have asked why and suggested he got a very good offer outside of the auction which gives ebay a very bad name but not their fault, their answer to me did suggest something fishy with that seller. I really hope this lamp has not gone to any of our members. Will update if I hear more.

Was it an auction and if so were there any bids..? If there were no bids then he's perfectly entitled to withdraw it. I had that happen to me with a MAT/V lamp once, which was annoying but my fault because I hadn't put a bid in. If there were bids then it needs to be reported to eBay.

If it was a buy it now sale then again he's perfectly entitled to withdraw it.

If you'd placed a bid then report it. That's strictly against the rules and could very well see him struck off the site.

it was ebay who informed me that he withdrew my bid and said item was no longer available.

I'd file a complaint about that alone. Very bad practice.

The seller in question has actually e-mailed us concerning this thread.  He stated that after listing the lamp he received numerous questions about it that he was unable to answer without testing.  Therefore, realizing it was a mistake to post it without more information, he delisted it and has made arrangements with an electrical engineer who will bench test it.  He indicated that he has not sold the bulbs and will post a new listing this coming Sunday.  He also noted he has contacted bidders explaining the situation.

Ok, that’s interesting. This appears to be a very rare lamp, and possibly still from the 1930s are earlier. I’ll be interested to see the test results!

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

That's good news, but personally I would have contacted bidders before taking the listing down; as of last night Peter said he'd heard nothing :-\
