If a LPS lamp such as a SOX lamp and Thorn SLI/H HO lamp has beehive electrodes, will it be able to withstand high ignition pulses such as 4kV from superimposed or semiparallel ignitors? Or will a SOX ignitor need to be used?
It will prevent the voltage from building up there, so I don't see any risk for any damage.
But if you are thinking about using MH or HPS ignitor, they create just pulses and then nothing, so may be able to break down the gas, but wont provide any energy for anything else, that may not be enough to sucessfuly ignite the LPS.
The LPS ignitors are more of a HF generators, generating longer time, high frequency bursts, which are able to deliver certain warmup energy into a cold cathode glow discharge.
