We just got hit unexpectedly, by a pretty serious thunderstorm. I had been peaking out the window since 30 minutes before that storm happened, and it was already beginning to rain. The sky got pitch black to my left, and that black cloud began quickly crossing above -- that's when I got a notification on the phone for a Tornado Warning. A girl in the apartments across from me, walked out of her apartment, but then quickly went back inside. I'm pretty sure she walked out due to the Tornado Warning notification on her phone, and then she confirmed the seriousness when she saw the cloud above. When she closed the door and opened up her window, that's when the Tornado Sirens started singin. That black cloud didn't even get to finish passing before disappearing, and once that cloud disappeared, it's like a bomb went off. That storm brought some serious force. That was a bit too insane... I'm wondering if maybe an embedded FO tornado may have been in it. To my surprise though, my area still has power. My friends want to hangout now, and I'm agreeing to hangout, but I will be keeping my eye out for possible damage that may have occurred. I'm also going to check to see if there may have been an F0 tornado that passed through this area. Either that, or... possible Derecho? No clue... I'll have to also check for the wind speed recordings as well... and, flooding... that storm brought VERY heavy rain, for a long period of time. Definitely the worst storm I've encountered so far in 2026.

(but sometimes more will be posted a day or 2 after a storm event) There was a wind-damage report in Eaton OH though, if thats anywhere close to you.

@dor123, I've been wondering for many years... does Israel encounter thunderstorms strong enough to produce tornadoes? I've watched some of your thunderstorm videos before... I've always thought that the storms in your area don't usually reach the strength required for tornadoes to occur. @xmaslightguy, everything happened so fast, and I was peaking out the window through my window blinds. I really, really wanted to go outside and capture everything on video, but it all happened too fast. Eaton... yep! Their storm also prompted a Tornado Warning too, if I remember correctly. To my surprise during my trip to my friends place, there was no damage to the area, at all, except for one tree branch down in a nearby neighborhood. I'm very surprised by that, given how strong that storm was.

@suzukir122 Yep. sometimes they happen fast like that! Sometimes when its raining I'll video through a window or door. (did 1 thunderstorm that way earlier this year that had heavy rain & rapid-fire lightning). Good that there was no damage other than branches in your area. I looked again at SPC storm reports from the 1st today .. there is now 1 tornado report posted for OH, an EF-0 in Montgomery county east of New Lebanon Max winds of 75mph & caused tree damage. Also now 5 wind reports in various places in the state. --- Your question on Israel got me curious, so I looked it up. Yep, they can/do have tornadoes there, but they are rare and weak/short-lived landspout type. (thats same thing where I live.. tornadoes can in theory happen, but its rare, and in somewhat close areas where they have happened, they're weak & short-lived. I personally have zero fear of ever being hit by one at home.)

My little brother texted me earlier today, letting me know confirmation of an F0 tornado that occurred in my area on Saturday. Seems as if I was correct... an F0 tornado passed through my area, reaching wind speeds supposedly of 80 mph, confirmed by the National Weather Service. My area: Franklin Ohio/Warren County. Obviously that could have been a very dangerous situation had that thunderstorm been stronger... had that been an F3 tornado or higher, this story/outcome would have been very much different, and I would have been hurt or worse, of course.

We had a severe line of storms that was racing towards our area as a "bow echo," but for some odd reason, just before it hit my area, the storms completely fell apart, and all that energy shifted towards the Springfield Ohio area, heading towards Columbus. Our thunderstorm warnings dropped, but we still have some... somewhat decent lightning from this storm. The rain isn't too heavy compared to what it was before the storm entered our area. Those who live in Columbus are about to get some rough weather.

We had a second line of pretty intense thunderstorms roll through our area again not too long ago, this time we got severe weather. Earlier today a pretty impressive situation occurred on a HPS lit highway in north Columbus Ohio. Winds flipped a car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3nvMTyh2dQ. This video got almost 4,000 views in just 5 hours. This looks a lot like it may have been a short lived F0, maybe even an F1, tornado. Not sure if the people in the car survived or not, though I'm betting they're okay, but with injuries. *Edit*... that video, just minutes later, already has over 4,400 views.

We've got another potential severe weather event possible, but mainly in the form of flooding. Check out the interactive radar... Indiana is in a random/not so common occurrence, where thunderstorms keep developing right around Muncie Indiana, then they move over the same areas points southeast, before they dissipate as they enter the Ohio line. This has been the case for quite some time now on radar, and places like Connersville Indiana are getting hit by constant very heavy rain. Looks really weird on the radar loop. Unfortunately all of this is moving East towards my area, very, very slowly. If those storms continue to develop and train over the same areas here, my area will likely see a good amount of flooding, along with flood warnings. Those storms have been developing and then hitting the same areas in Indiana for the past 5 hours.

But they also need a pretty delicate balance between the cold-pool behind it, instability, and amount of wind shear. That one probably moved out of an area of good instability (and/or shear) and the cold-pool outran the instability. When that happens its pretty much swift 'death' to the storm. The remaining outflow boundary may go on to trigger more storms farther down in the direction of travel. Got hit by a severe-warned storm myself today, heavy rain, strong wind, & hail just over 1/2" (some probably close to 3/4", but I couldn't get out to grab any) At one point just for a short while it looked kinda like one of those hurricane videos out there. Also caused some minor flooding. If the hail had gotten over 1", or any large trees would have come down I woulda sent in a storm report. After it passed by the storm merged with another, forming a small bow echo. I didn't keep watch on radar to see how far out it went.
