Who can help me with the light bulbs? « on: May 24, 2025, 11:53:06 AM » Author: musel73
Hello everyone,

I found these 4 (I assume) very old light bulbs in my brother's estate. I am not at all familiar with light bulbs and would therefore be grateful for any information. Of course I am interested in the age.

Many thanks in advance and best regards from Germany.

These are carbon filament lamps. Unfortunately, all four have their filaments broken. Something very old, as these seems still having expensive platinum wire lead-in seals. Probably very seriously old, my wild guess may be even from 1890's, due to their seemingly archaic construction!

Wikipedia says inexpensive dumet wire that replaced platinum in glass-to-metal seals, was invented in 1911. So these lamps are sure were made before.

Sorry can not tell any more, I am not much into historical lamps.
