I guess this complements an older post I made asking about the Chinese lamps. But anyways, I found an EYE 175w BT-shaped clear mercury vapor lamp that says it was made in Taiwan.

I have seen plenty of EYE lamps made in Japan and even a few in China but never any made in Taiwan. Does anyone know more about them and what the quality is like?

They're fine. China and Taiwan are largely the same place (politics aside– Taiwan is an independent Chinese "province") but it's still very similar to China / Chinese ways. I believe EYE had a plant in China (Taiwan), so its rather a matter of labeling / politics than anything.

Iwasaki has/had a plant in Taiwan and also China.
Quality wise, they're OK...take forever to vaporize and come to full brightness...kinda like a medium pressure mercury vapor lamp.

I've heard about that problem with taking ages to come up to full brightness, and it doesn't really bother me. As long as the lamp is of a decent quality, I don't really care much about the warm-up time of it.
