Small correction: 350 Ohms for 35W lamp.

As for lamp color - are you sure you really have a rare/non-existent  European spec high voltage 35W HPS, and not S76 52V 0.83A American low voltage HPS?

The later will run with a slight underdrive on 58W choke and will give that regular orange HPS color.

Oh no not a rare European lamp these 35w lamps are generic Sylvania clear 35w ones from the USA. I picked up half a dozen really cheaply and even with shipping they were worth it. Yes definately 52v .83A off the data sheet.

Well, that makes sense now. Note with 52V lamp you are starting to toast the choke which was made for 105-110V TL lamp. Still probably OK for short time running open air.
